Brooks offers chance to meet other ASU football players in Tempe

An Arizona State University student-athlete who’s from Chandler recently announced he’ll repeat a charity effort he completed last year.

Sun Devils football player DeCarlos Brooks recently announced on his X (formerly Twitter) account he is hosting his second annual “Cutback Giveback Haircut Event.”

This means free haircuts for children on Sunday, June 30, from what Brooks calls “some of the best barbers in the Valley.”

According to Brooks, the event will take place at the Arizona Barber Academy, 1425 W. Southern Ave. in Tempe, near Planet Fitness and Priest Drive.

The first “Cutback Giveback” haircut event took place last July at the academy.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will involve prizes, games, a raffle, food trucks and the chance to meet some ASU football players.

Brooks, a 2019 Chandler High School graduate, is about to start his senior season with the Sun Devils after transferring from Cal following the 2022 season. He rushed for 259 yards on 48 carries and had a three-touchdown game in an injury-plagued 2023 season at ASU.

The liberal studies major said he wants people to come out to the event and have fun.

“Can’t wait to see you guys there,” Brooks posted.
