East Valley Institute of Technology sells 90.7FM for $112K
Posted
The East Valley Institute of Technology has sold all of its assets used in the operation of FM broadcast station KVIT, Apache Junction, to Desert Soul Media Inc., an Arizona not-for-profit corporation.
The station, at 90.7 on the FM dial, was the first radio station purchased for EVIT’s Radio/Audio Production Department, and was used to give “real world” experience to students interested in pursuing a career in broadcasting, according to a release.
With 2,000 watts of power, it was a good entry level station for students to learn on. However, with the subsequent purchase of 88.7 FM, KPNG, with its 15,000 watts of power, it was time to release 90.7 and concentrate on the stronger station.
The station’s call letters, KVIT, will be retained by EVIT and will be transferred to 88.7 The Pulse (currently KPNG).
Desert Soul Media purchased the station for $112,000 and is in effect at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9.
EVIT offers 40 career training programs for public, charter, private and home-schooled high school students who reside in the following East Valley school districts: Apache Junction, Cave Creek, Chandler, Fountain Hills, Gilbert, Higley, J.O. Combs, Mesa, Queen Creek, Scottsdale and Tempe. Students attend their high school for a half-day and EVIT for a half-day. East Valley school districts provide free transportation for their students to attend EVIT.
