Monday afternoon, Chandler Police released some basic information about a Sunday night shooting at Snedigar Park in South Chandler.
One teenager was killed and two others were wounded in the shooting, which happened shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday, police stated in a news release.
Chandler Police stated officers responded to the Snedigar Sportsplex, near Alma School Road and Fulton Ranch Parkway in South Chandler, for multiple reports of shots being heard near the northwest end of the park.
Upon arrival, police determined that a shooting three people had been hit and injured by gunfire, the report states. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene.
No suspect information was initially available, and an area search was conducted to identify any leads or locate evidence, the release states.
All three victims were between 16 and 17 years old, police stated.
Investigators worked throughout the night and determined that the incident occurred between two groups that were acquainted with one another, police stated, though no charges have been announced.
"This is an isolated incident, and there is no present danger to the public." Chandler Police stated in the release.
No Monday status was provided regarding the medical condition of either surviving gunshot victim.
