M.I.K.I.D. (Mentally Ill Kids In Distress), an organization whose mission is to improve the behavioral health and wellness of children and youth, is hosting this year’s Annual Winter Benefit Concert in Phoenix.
The performance starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 at Ballet Arizona’s Dorrance Theatre, 2835 E. Washington St., in downtown Phoenix.
M.I.K.I.D. is a nonprofit dedicated to improving the mental and behavioral health of children and youth through a family-centered approach. The organization has eight Arizona locations – Phoenix, Sierra Vista, Nogales, Casa Grande, Yuma, Tucson, Bullhead City, Kingman – and has expanded to Pueblo County, Colorado.
“Our Winter Benefit Concert is our biggest fundraiser of the year to continue helping thousands of children with behavioral needs,” Patrick Winters, marketing, and development vice president, shared in a press release. “When a parent receives a diagnosis such as depression or anxiety, ADHD, bipolar, or autism, many don’t know how to navigate the system or what to do next. That’s what we do and have done for 37 years. We are the largest family-run organization in the Valley, and last year alone, we were proud to serve 4,000 children and their families.”
The evening will kick off with music and inspiration composed by renowned pianist, composer, and speaker Eric Genuis. He was born in Toronto, Ontario and holds an associateship in piano performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music.
